After spreading awareness on blood donation, now let’s talk about your organs. As sucky as this sound, when you die and if you are a registered organ donor, you can help someone else live.

This may sound like a topic that is taboo in the Asian nations but, it’s time to grow up. We all die, and you have a choice to give a life to another person. For religious believers, this will be a VIP ticket for you to heaven.

Think about this and check with your family and register as an organ donor.

How to save 7 lives?

By becoming an organ donor, you can save up to seven lives when you die. Your heart, kidneys, pancreas, liver and lungs can be used to give seriously ill people the chance to live a longer and healthier life. Additionally, you can also help up to 50 others by donating tissues such as corneas, heart valves, skin and bone.

Please register yourself as a donor today so that you can provide hope for people waiting for a life-saving organ. Remember to let your family know about your decision, as they need to give their permission to have your organs removed. So please ask everyone you know to become an organ donor.

Registering as a donor is free and there will be no cost to your next-of-kin after your death.

URGENT HELP:The House of Joy in Puchong

The House of Joy orphanage in Puchong which was damaged in a fire.They need as much support to rebuild the shelter.

The children will be temporarily housed at a multi-purpose hall while the management looks for another house.

HOUSE OF JOY is a social concern and a non-profit charitable home that administers shelter, care and training to orphans, children and teens who are underprivileged, abused, abandoned & neglected, poor, and delinquent. Besides children’s home, we also give shelter and care to some underprivileged and destitute old folk. House of Joy has been established since 1st August 1992 by Rev Tang Chee Sing and his wife Lee Ching Mun.

The aim of House of Joy is to reach out to these needy people, to develop a real sense of worth and a change for the betterment amongst children, teenagers and the elderly. We hope that by loving, caring, counseling, educating, training and transforming through restoration will help this needy especially children and teenagers into useful adults, ready to face life’s challenges.

Lately green projects have been significantly increasing in Malaysia.So Danny and I, went to a recycling yard located @ Paroi, Negeri Sembilan.I was completely fascinated of the items that can be recycled.There was collection of all types of materials that I never knew can be recycled.

Also most importantly, if you do a recycling project, you can directly transfer the items to the yard and make more money.The rates for items such as iron, aluminium fluctuates so you must also be aware of the price.Well if you don't mind the 10 cent to 20 cents difference than it should not be a problem.

Some of the items that you can collect from your own home to recycle, you girlfriend/boyfriend.... to bad cant be recycle to be new haha.

For me, The World Aids day is not a day to celebrate but a day to remind our self the dangers os AIDS and how to manage people who have Aids.Its A day to understand the challenges faced by Aids victims and create awareness to reduce or eradicate this problem.The world hold hands for a common goal! Did you realize that? People from all walks of life, different political background, race, religion facing this issue together.Sometimes a disaster or diseases reminds us humans, that we can be united and we can make a change.My Highest respect to Bono and all the other great leaders in social/health to make a difference.The least I can do, is spread their word to reach out to as many people.

"For some people, this is a really emotional moment, for people who have been at it longer than I have: the people in ACT UP, the people at amfAR, people in the gay community. Largest Santa Gathering: Guinness World Record

I can’t imagine the sight of hundreds of joyful white bearded, big belly people gathering as Santa. There will be an echo of HO! HO! HO! all over the place. I can imagine the environment with colorful lights, Christmas tree with bling bling decorations and a flashing star and well how I can forget the ever beautiful Santarinas’ spreading joy graciously.

The spirit of Christmas or any other festival in the world is about giving and sharing. This is the period where those who are gifted, share gifts to those who are less fortunate. But when we give it’s with an intention of humbly helping each other and neither for mere publicity nor to give an impression that will make the person on the receiving end feel small.

I was excited when Adam Townsend from Freud Communications shared this program with me.It will be held in the Kia Oval Cricket Ground in London with the goal to break the Guinness World Record for the largest Santa gathering in history!

This is the master plan

On Sunday 27th November, over 13 000 people will descend on the Kia Oval Cricket Ground in London to break the Guinness World Record for the largest Santa gathering in history! This unique and special day will help raise awareness for a new charity initiative, Text SANTA, and will be filmed by ITV.

Text SANTA is a new ITV show that aims to raise money and create a better public understanding for those most vulnerable during the festive period. Six charities, each with the ability to make a real difference to people’s quality of life over the Christmas period, will benefit from the first ever Text SANTA appeals this year:

1. Carers UK

2. Crisis, Help the Hospices

3. Samaritans and WRVS plus Great Ormond StreetChildren’s Charity

4. Helping Hand

5. Noah’s Ark Appeal

6. Yorkhill Children’s Foundation

(LGBT) is not the diseases, HIV is!

Is there a need for Malaysians to understand more about Seksualiti Merdeka?.By banning the program and branding it as a sex campaign, do people think Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) will banish into thin air?

Writing about this, does it mean I am gay? Or am I supporting the abnormal? Are we in a society where there is no incest, child raping, prostitution done by straight, cultured, and religious people?

The questions we Malaysians need to ask our self is, are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) bad people?

Did they blow up a building? Did they rob you? Did they rape you? Did they kidnap your 14years old daughter? Did they go in groups and vandalise the city? If no, why are we, an educated, cultured nation pressing so hard on these minorities?

One good reason why the government and people need to too look into is, face the fact that HIV is a significant problem here in Malaysia. The Ministry of Health AIDS Registry registered more than 91,000 Malaysians living with HIV. In 2010, for the first time in Malaysia, HIV infection through sexual transmission has over taken injecting drug use as the main source of infection. Therefore it is more important than ever that an effective and targeted HIV intervention to all communities happen.

If basic awareness is not spread, how is this Nation going to move forward? Why are we so prejudice against (LGBT)? Why can’t the police place their effort on Rempit, Snatched thieves or acid killers? Don’t get me wrong, I am not a political representative nor a religious representative. I am representing humans.

Are we looking in the mirror and denying the fact that (LGBT) don’t exist? They are around us, they are human with great compassion and they just choose to live the life they want to. How on earth are these people hurting you?

If we look at the political point, this group are more loyal and will support the party that stands for them. (LGBT) are citizens of this Nation, they have the right to vote and they can think.

Yes, there are some individuals who are “lost” that is where counselling and religion comes in. But if we shut them, lock the door and throw the keys, can you assure me that one day your child won’t be a (LGBT).

What will you do if your child is (LGBT)? You will not know what to do, and this is why the awareness and guidelines are important.

If you feel that what I am saying is crap, than try these. Place yourself as LGBT and tell me the fear you have. Despite all this, this group of people stand up for what they believe.

It’s time for this society to accept their presence and provide proper guidelines and education as a preventive measure towards sexual transmitted diseases. (LGBT). Is not the diseases, HIV is.

If people in this Nation say these people are lost, than what are you doing about it? Stop bitching about it at the coffee shop and do something. If not, do not comment on (LGBT) as they are probably better human being than you.

(LGBT) is not the diseases, HIV is!

World AIDS Day

It has been an honour to be guided and mentored by you Sir. I got the opportunity to get to know Sir when I was producing a Directors conference in 2008.Since than he has been guiding and be the best example of a living philanthropist who is not political affiliated or status crazy individual.

The wisdom that has been passed on is something money can never buy.Learning ways of adapting and customizing charity management was subjective at that point. Not through theories, but on ground implementation Reality Project manage to reach its goal of making Projects a Reality.We discussed on social problems and brain stormed simple ideas on how to place a meal for a person who is in need.

In 2009 we discussed on ways to attract more youngsters and working professionals to be more involved in social welfare. That day was the day,the birth of FUN CHARITY, a simple Microty (Micro Charity) concept that suits their lifestyle, work and social.

START A SMALL PROJECT IN SMALL COMMUNITIES THROUGH FRIENDSHIP AND FUN AND SEE THE RESULTS!

3. FUN CHARITY is breaking the barriers of race, religion and getting people to use their hearts. How can this fact get the attention of more sponsors?

START SMALL PROJECTS, SHOW RESULTS AND SPONSORS WILL FOLLOW WHEN THEY A SEE THE ACTION ON THE GROUND.

4. By engaging and introducing social enterprise courses online and in schools, will it be something that will be added in the Education Syllabus

Micro Charity

There are many forms of Charity Management and as people we see great efforts by NGO, religious groups and green environmentalist who make the effort to create awareness to archive the goals of making the world a better place.

Nevertheless, being a volunteer is challenging and to some extends not rewarding financially. This is one of the main reasons why people who have ideas and passion flush out their dreams to fulfil their commitments. Simple example if you have a car and a house loan, it’s worrying for you to leave your job to be a full time volunteer. Than the concept of, only the rich will be full time volunteers grows in people mind especially in Asia.

But reality check, not all rich kids wake up in the morning to make the world a better place. Shopping and partying is their way of changing the world. It’s not entirely wrong because either way, by spending lavishly it boast up the economy.

Now let’s talk about regular Joe. Perhaps a fresh grad has a car loan maybe saving up for a marriage or a house. You still can make a change. This is where Micro Charity comes in place.

Being a Micro Charity (MICROTY) supporter is simple and easy. You can make be a change catalyst even if you don’t have super powers. It’s simple and it’s something we all can practice every day and its will cost you nothing. In return you will get, well nothing material but a sense of humanity and satisfaction.

Example of Micro Charity Steps

1. Share as many social related topics or events on Facebook and Twitter. Join FUN CHARITY group on Facebook and check out some simple programs to support.

2. Look out for social activities around your neighbourhood posted by NGOs’.

3. Collect empty can drinks at your work place till you have a bag full, squash it up and pass it rubbish collector on the bicycle when you see them (there are a lot of them around SS2 and they won’t hurt you).This way, you are saving the environment and helping a stranger have a good meal for the day.

4. If you have a passion of taking pictures or writing, join some social activities and test your skills because with a good picture or writing you will create awareness when it’s posted on social media.

5. Identify a home / family who are in need and get as much information ex: pictures of the broken roof, and post it to your network to raise some simple funds. It will cost less if we DIY as many things we can.

6. If you like cooking, baking or eating, join Soup Kitchen programs and learn how to prepare food and cook them.

7. Be brave to share with your work mates the current charity events and perhaps join in a group as simple team building program. You need not plan or spend a lot instead of hiring an event company to propose a budget and get an approval from your management. Just join events that are already set up in regards, of social or green. If possible get your management to sponsor the events and get good social publicity. This is where Branding Heart concept comes in place.

So choose an item or create your own plan and work on it.

I got a call from the Ms Joanne from Promotions / Public Relations Department, Sungei Wang Plaza Management Corporation with a great news.Her management has agreed to sponsor contractors to fix up the premises for Stepping Stones Living Centre.

This will be just in time for year end and a great start for the children for 2012.I am glad the awareness is kicking in and well wishers are coming forward to propose to their management on ways to make a change and gain more branding.This is how CSR works and it would be great if more companies come forward and perhaps take up some of the programs as their CRS and create a branding that touches peoples heart.

After coming up with Charity Tourism I will do a write up about Branding Hearts to explain how organisation can win customer loyalty in the long run , as well as giving back to society and being profitable in the long run.

Established in 1972, the Barefoot College is a non-government organisation that has been providing basic services and solutions to problems in rural communities, with the objective of making them self-sufficient and sustainable. These ‘Barefoot solutions’ can be broadly categorised into solar energy, water, education, health care, rural handicrafts, people’s action, communication, women’s empowerment and wasteland development.

The College believes that for any rural development activity to be successful and sustainable, it must be based in the village as well as managed and owned by those whom it serves. Therefore, all Barefoot initiatives whether social, political or economic, are planned and implemented by a network of rural men and women who are known as ‘Barefoot Professionals’.

This year's Christmas Soup Kitchen shall be held on Saturday, 17th December, 2011 @ 9.00 a.m. At TMC Sentul (next to HGH Hall Sentul) shall continue to be the venue for the cooking and packing and lots of noise and fun.

Objectives: we are teaching refugees conversational english as they are waiting for another country for resettlement. So communicative english will help them to survive in Malaysia or others countries better. Our teaching style involve more of refugees speaking (80%) and volunteers contribute (20% ) of the speaking time.

I’ve been known to drop the occasional expletive, but the most offensive F word to me is not the one that goes f***. It’s F***** - the famine happening in the Horn of Africa, mainly Somalia.

Dear world leaders,

The famine in Somalia could kill 750,000 in the coming months, and tens of thousands have already died. When you meet at the Group of 20 (G-20) Summit in November, you have the opportunity to break the cycle of famine and ensure people are hungry no more. Lives are in your hands. Please keep the promises you have made to the 2 billion poor people who depend on farming for their livelihoods.

The reasons for the famine in the Horn of Africa are complex and solutions are difficult, especially in Somalia, but we can’t lose sight of some simple facts:

1. 30,000 children have died in just 3 months. Thirty thousand. With over 12 million people at risk.

2. Famine is not a natural catastrophe – drought doesn’t have to lead to famine. It can be prevented, as we have seen in much of Kenya and Ethiopia.

In the 21st century, it’s an obscenity that people are dying because they can’t get enough food to eat. Every one of those 30,000 children is part of a family – a son, a daughter, sister or brother. We can’t imagine what it must be like to starve to death, but most of us know what it’s like to lose someone we love.

Please watch the film and make use of the voice you have -- sign the petition. It will make a difference in putting pressure on world leaders to do more to help those in need right now, and live up to promises already made to invest in the things proven to work – early warning systems...irrigation...drought resistant seeds… and of course, peace and security.

``WHAT WOULD THE TUNKU SAY IF HE WAS HERE TODAY?``

1. INTRODUCTION

I AM GREATLY HONOURED, TO BE INVITED TO GIVE THIS YEAR’S TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN LECTURE.

I FEEL UNWORTHY OF THIS PRIVILEGE TO DELIVER THIS TAR LECTURE.

LET ME SAY AT THE OUTSET THAT I ADMIRE OUR LATE BELOVED TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN GREATLY AND FEEL THAT I CANNOT DO ENOUGH JUSTICE TO SUCH A GREAT LEADER.

I HAVE ALSO TO MAKE ANOTHER ADMISSION - DOCTORS GENERALLY SCARE ME AS I AM ALWAYS A PROSPECTIVE PATIENT. THE ACADEMY OF MEDICINE HAS ALSO HELD ME IN SOME AWE, PERHAPS BECAUSE MY FIRST MCS POSTING WAS TO THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH.

THEN WE HAD FORMIDABLE LEADERS LIKE TUN OMAR ONG YOKE LIN AS MINISTER OF HEALTH, TAN SRI DR MOHD DIN BIN AHMAD, DR TAN HOR KEE, DR HJ.MOHAMMED BIN MOHD IBRAHIM AND DR KARIM BIN NAWAB DIN. AND OF COURSE THERE WAS ANOTHER LUMINARY, TAN SRI DR ISMAIL MAJID, OF ``COCO’S MESS`` FAME.

I WELL REMEMBER THIS - AS I HAD TO DRAFT REPLIES TO PARLIAMENTARY QUESTIONS THAT I PREPARED FOR THE MINISTER TUN OMAR ONG YOKE LIN . EVEN A JUNIOR CIVIL SERVANT LIKE ME, HAD SOME SLEEPLESS NIGHTS , BECAUSE OF THAT MESS!

2. I ASKED PROF. VICTOR LIM – WHY HE INVITED ME TO SPEAK ?

IS IT BECAUSE - AT MY AGE THERE ARE ONLY A FEW OF US LEFT, WHO SERVED UNDER TUNKU’S PREMIERSHIP? OR IS IT BECAUSE I BELIEVE IN TUNKU’S VALUES AND ACHIEVEMENTS?

INDEED, I WAS A UNIVERSITY STUDENT WHEN I WAS THRILLED TO HEAR HIM SHOUT ``MERDEKA`` SEVEN TIMES AT THE MERDEKA STADIUM ON THE FIRST MERDEKA DAY.

3. SO WHAT IS THE TITLE OF MY TAR ADDRESS ?

TO COMMEMORATE THE TUNKU’S MEMORY AND HIS GREAT CONTRIBUTION TO MALAYA AND MALAYSIA, I ASKED MYSELF, WHAT WOULD BE THE SUITABLE SUBJECT FOR THIS MEMORABLE OCCASION.

I DECIDED ON THE SUBJECT -- ``WHAT WOULD THE TUNKU SAY IF HE WAS HERE TODAY?``

AT THE OUTSET, LET ME SAY THAT, I BELIEVE THAT MALAYSIA WOULD BE A BETTER AND HAPPIER COUNTRY - IF WE FOLLOWED HIS GOLDEN RULES AND VALUES.

4. WHAT THEN WERE THE TUNKU’S VALUES AND STAND IN HIS LIFE? WHAT WERE HIS ASPIRATIONS AND HIS DREAMS FOR OUR BELOVED MALAYSIA- AND WHAT ARE THEY TODAY?

THE LATE TUN SUFFIAN, OUR FORMER CHIEF JUSTICE, IN THE BOOK ``PRINCE AMONG MEN `` - DESCRIBED THE TUNKU THUS – ``THOUGH A PRINCE HE WAS A DEMOCRAT, THOUGH HE WAS A POLITICIAN, HE WAS A GENTLEMEN AND A STATESMEN - AND HISTORY WILL FOREVER RECORD HIS GREAT CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS HIS COUNTRY AND PEOPLE``

AND SO HOW DO WE REMEMBER THE TUNKU?

FIRSTLY, WE ALL REMEMBER HIM FONDLY AS A TRUE MALAY MALAYSIAN. HE DID NOT HAVE QUALMS ABOUT BEING, FIRST A MALAY AND THEN A MALAYSIAN. INDEED HE WAS BOTH AT THE SAME TIME.

SECONDLY, HE WAS AS HE DESCRIBED HIMSELF –`` THE HAPPIEST PRIME MINISTER IN THE WORLD ``

HE DID NOT HAVE A MEAN BONE IN HIM. THAT CANNOT BE SAID SO EASILY OF MANY POLITICIANS TODAY.

THIRDLY, WHILE HE FELT STRONGLY ABOUT UPLIFTING THE POOR AND THE UNDERPRIVILEGED - HE WAS NEVER RACIAL AS I CAN RECALL. ITS DIFFICULT TO ATTRIBUTE THIS RARE QUALITY TO MOST OF OUR POLITICIANS, ON EITHER SIDE, TODAY.

FOURTHLY, THE TUNKU WAS GREATLY LOVED BY ALL MALAYSIANS REGARDLESS OF RACE AND RELIGION, DESPITE HIS LOVE FOR EVERYTHING ``FAST ` I.E. FAST CARS, HORSES AND LADIES.`` TODAY WE HAVE DEFINITELY SLOWED DOWN - WE HAVE FAR MORE HANG-UPS.

FOR INSTANCE HE LOVED JOGET, LIKE THE LATE TUN RAZAK, I FOR ONE MISS IT TODAY, ESPECIALLY THE JOGET DANCES WITH MINISTERS OF HEALTH KHIR JOHARI AND BAHAMAN AT THE NURSES HOSTELS. FIFTHLY, BECAUSE HE WAS A MODERN MUSLIM, HE WAS NOT PAROCHIAL AND NARROW MINDED AND HE BOLDLY ENCOURAGED GREAT RELIGIOUS FREEDOM. HE WAS NOT BIGOTTED LIKE MANY LEADERS TODAY!

SIXTHLY, HE REGARDED ALL OF US AS MALAYSIANS, FIRST AND FOREMOST. HE THEREFORE PROMOTED AND PRACTISED THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF EGALITARIANISM AND JUSTICE, EVEN BEFORE THE NEP WAS OFFICIALLY ADOPTED AFTER THE MAY 13TH RIOTS. IN OTHER WORDS HE ALWAYS STOOD UP FOR FAIRNESS TO ALL. THIS WAS BECAUSE OF HIS BASIC AND INTRINSIC GOODNESS OF HEART AND HIS RICH INNER SPIRITUALITY. HE WAS NOT A ``PRETENDER`` !

SEVENTHLY, HE UPHELD THE PRINCIPLES OF MERITOCRACY AND COMPETITION WHILE CARING FOR THE POOR AND THE UNDERPRIVILEGED. THAT IS WHY WE ENJOYED IMMENSE CONFIDENCE, BOTH AT HOME AND ABROAD. THAT IS HOW HE LAID FIRM FOUNDATIONS FOR POLITICAL STABILITY, NATIONAL UNITY AND ECONOMIC PROGRESS AND GREAT RELIGIOUS UNDERSTANDING AND TOLERANCE. EIGHTHLY, HE ENJOYED ENORMOUS INTERNATIONAL GOODWILL AND STATURE. HE WAS ADMIRED BOTH IN THE DEVELOPING SOUTH NATIONS AS WELL AS THE RICH NORTH OR WESTERN NATIONS - WITHOUT STIRRING RANCOUR OR BEING REGARDED AS RECALCITRANT.

5. SO WHAT WOULD THE TUNKU SAY TO US HAPPILY TODAY?

54 YEARS AFTER THE MERDEKA THAT HE ON SO GRACIOUSLY AND GRANDLY ACHIEVED, FOR OUR BELOVED COUNTRY – FROM OUR PROTECTORATE OR COLONIAL STATUS ?

I HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT HE WOULD HAVE ``MIXED FEELINGS `` FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS: ( i) FIRSTLY, AS ‘BAPA KEMERDEKAAN’ HE WOULD BE HAPPY AND PROUD THAT, HIS MALAYA OF 1957, AND THEN MALAYSIA IN 1963, IS STILL HERE AND ALIVE AND KICKING.

I SAY THIS BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE AND NATIONS THOUGHT WE WOULD GO DOWN THE TUBE ON MANY OCCASSIONS IN THE PAST. EVEN NOW THERE ARE MANY SERIOUS DOUBTERS – WHO HAVE SOME MISGIVINGS ABOUT OUR FUTURE.

FOR EXAMPLE, MY OWN LATE DEAR FATHER ALTHOUGH A LOYAL CIVIL SERVANT, WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO GO TO THE MERDEKA STADIUM FOR THE DECLARATION OF MERDEKA ON AUGUST 31ST 1957. HE ADVISED ME THAT THERE MIGHT BE RIOTS ! IT WAS MY LATE DEAR MOTHER WHO PERSUADED MY FATHER TO LET ME, AS AN ADULT UNIVERSITY STUDENT, TO WALK JUST ACROSS FROM OUR GOVT HOUSE AT HOSE ROAD, NEXT TO DEWAN BAHASA AND TUNKU’S OLD RESIDENCE AT HOSE ROAD, TO THE MERDEKA STADIUM.

THEN THERE WERE DOUBTS IN 1963. MANY COUNTRIES AND PEOPLE FELT THAT MALAYSIA WOULD BE OVERUN BY INDONESIA DURING CONFRONTATION. THEN AGAIN WHEN SINGAPORE WAS EXPELLED BY THE TUNKU’S GOVERNMENT IN 1965.

THEN AGAIN DURING THE RACIAL RIOTS IN MAY 13TH 1969.

THEN AGAIN DURING THE SEVERE FINANCIAL CRISIS IN 1968 AND 1997!

SO WE HAVE GONE THROUGH SEVERAL ACUTE CHALLENGES IN OUR RELATIVELY SHORT HISTORY. THAT IS WHY I BELIEVE THAT MALAYSIA AS, A VERY COMPLEX AND COMPLICATED COUNTRY THAT TUNKU PUT TOGETHER WITH A RELATIVELY PRAGMATIC AND WORKABLE FEDERAL CONSTITUTION , HAS BEEN GREATLY BLESSED . NOT ONLY HAS IT SURVIVED BUT MALAYSIA HAS PROSPERED CONSIDERABLY - DESPITE ITS INHERENT FRAGILITY.

SO I THINK THE TUNKU WOULD BE PROUD TO WITNESS MALAYSIA’S INTRINSIC RESILIENCE AND VIBRANCY. HE WOULD SEE US AS A COUNTRY LIKE A FAST CAR THAT HAS NEGOTIATED TRICKY BENDS INSPITE OF HAVING SOME CARELESS DRIVERS!

SECONDLY, THE TUNKU WOULD BE PROUD OF OUR SOCIO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. WE HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT WE HAVE DONE REMARKABLY WELL BY THE STANDARDS OF MOST OTHER DEVELOPING COUNTRIES, DESPITE OUR UNIQUE INTERNAL PROBLEMS OF RACE AND RELIGION AND GEOGRAPHICAL DIVERSITY AND INCREASING INCOME DISPARITIES .

HOWEVER, I ACCEPT THAT WITH GREATER ADOPTION OF THE TUNKU’S SOCIO ECONOMIC POLICIES AND THE BETTER IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ORIGINAL PHILOSOPHY OF TUN RAZAK’S THE NEP, (WITHOUT THE ABUSES), MALAYSIA WOULD HAVE ACHIEVED MUCH MORE THAN HITHETO AND THE TUNKU’S ASPIRATIONS WOULD HAVE BEEN REALISED.

BUT THAT IS NOW IN THE REALM OF SPECULATION AND HIGH HOPES. UNFORTUNATELY TOO MUCH WATER HAS FLOWED UNDER THE BRIDGE OF DESTINY. THAT IS NOW HISTORY.

OUR PRESENT HAS EVOLVED FROM THAT HISTORY, WITH LESS LIKELIHOOD THAT THE TUNKU’S DREAMS WILL BE FULFILLED !

THIRDLY, ALTHOUGH THE BARISAN NATIONAL GOVERNMENT IS NOW A FAR CRY FROM THE TUNKU’S ALLIANCE PARTY AND HIS BRAND OF THE BN, HE MUST BE SMILING FROM UP THERE AND LOOKING DOWN UPON US ALL, WITH SOME SURPRISE, TO WITNESS THE BN STRENGTH FOR 54 YEARS SO FAR, ESPECIALLY WITH ITS 2/3 RD MAJORITY UP TO 2008.

I SERIOUSLY DOUBT THAT EVEN DEAR TUNKU WOULD HAVE ENVISAGED THE QUITE UNIQUE BN EXPERIENCE OF LONGEVITY AND RESILIENCE SO FAR. FOURTHLY, AS A LEADING MUSLIM LEADER HE WOULD BE VERY PROUD TO SEE THAT THE ORGANISATION OF ISLAMIC COUNTRIES THAT THE TUNKU HIMSELF HELPED TO ESTABLISH AND ADVANCE, HAS PROGRESSED SO MUCH IN SIZE, STATURE AND INFLUENCE WITH ITS GREAT IMPACT ON THE WORLD SCENE.

5(ii) WHAT WOULD MAKE THE TUNKU UNHAPPY, TO SEE IN HIS BELOVED MALAYSIA TODAY?

LET ME ANSWER LOUDLY WHAT MANY OF YOU MAY AGREE WITH ME SILENTLY.

FIRSTLY, HE WOULD BE UNHAPPY TO SEE THAT THERE IS MUCH MORE DOUBT AND PESSIMISM AMONGST A HIGHER PROPORTION OF MALAYSIANS TODAY, AS COMPARED TO THE TIME OF THE TUNKU’S PREMIERSHIP?

SECONDLY, HE WOULD BE SAD TO SEE THE EXCESSIVE POLITICKING, DIRTY POLITICS, RACISM AND RELIGIOUS BIGOTRY

THIRDLY, THE POLARISATION AND DISUNITY WOULD TROUBLE HIM, AS HE WAS ALWAYS FOR HARMONY AND NATIONAL UNITY, FROM THE VERY BEGINNING OF OUR NATIONHOOD.

FOURTHLY, HE WOULD SEE A MALAYSIA THAT IS DECLINING RATHER THAN ASCENDING COMPARED TO OTHER COUNTRIES IN THE MIDDLE INCOME GROUP – IN FACT, WE ARE NOW CAUGHT IN -- ``THE MIDDLE INCOME TRAP`` !

6 .HOW COULD WE REALISE THE TUNKU’S DREAM FOR A HAPPY AND UNITED MALAYSIA ?

FIRSTLY, THE GOVT HAS TO BE MORE FAIR TO ALL RACES, ETHNIC AND RELIGIONS GROUPS.

SECONDLY, HELP THE POOR DEVELOP TO BE MORE INDEPENDENT THROUGH MORE RELEVANT EDUCATION AND TRAINING AND LET THEM NOT BECOME DEPENDENT ON PAMPERING / MANJA2.

THIRDLY, REMOVE THE KETUANANSHIP AND PROTECTION AND SUBSIDY MENTALITY, IN ALL ASPECTS OF OUR DAILY LIVING .

FOURTHLY, COMBAT CRONYISM – LET THERE BE MORE COMPETITION ESPECIALLY AMONGST MALAYS, ONCE THEY GET EMPLOYMENT.

FIFTHLY, LETS GO FOR MORE MERITOCRACY AND STRENGTHEN THE NATIONAL INSTITUTIONS – THE JUDICIARY, THE MACC , THE EDUCATION SYSTEM, THE POLICE, THE CIVIL SERVICE, ETC.

7 . NOW, WHAT COULD WE AS MALAYSIAN CITIZENS AND ESPECIALLY YOU -- AS PART OF THE MALAYSIAN ELITE DO, TO MAKE MALAYSIA A BETTER COUNTRY?

Would you judge a wealthy person when he/she swindles millions or would it be easier to judge a poor teen who stole bread due to hunger?

Would you borrow money to a poor friend or would it be more confortable to borrow money to a rich friend?

So I choose attitude as a form to measure a person because attitude is something you can’t fake for long as it requires consistency.

Basically there will be 2 programs.

1. Preparing & cooking for 80 pax people in Sentul area at 9.00 am

2. Preparing & cooking for an orang asli group (based in Ulu Kelang behind the Zoo) at 3.00pm

Bono's Charity Work, Events and Causes

There are few people in the music industry who have the presence of Bono. The Irish frontman of U2 knows no limitations when it comes to fighting poverty and hunger, and is constantly in direct contact with world leaders and policy makers in his quest to make the world a better place.

Bono was inspired to get involved in charity work after seeing The Secret Policeman’s Ball in 1979. In 1986 he helped organize Amnesty International's Conspiracy Of Hope tour alongside Sting, who was one of the Secret Policeman’s Ball performers seen by Bono, Peter Gabriel, Lou Reed, and Bryan Adams. He also got involved in the Band Aid and Live Aid projects which were organized by Bob Geldof – another Secret Policeman’s Ball performer, and later helped Geldof organize the 2005 Live 8 project.

His first contact with charitable causes was in 1986, prior to the Conspiracy of Hope tour, when World Vision invited him to Ethiopia. While there, Bono developed an education program with his wife, Ali, that used one-act plays and songs to spread information on health, hygiene, and other issues. He released a book of photos he took during the trip called “String Of Pearls”.

Bono followed his trip to Ethiopia with visits to Nicaragua and El Salvador with Sanctuary to draw attention to the conflicts and help children.

He wrote a song called Silver and Gold for Steve Van Zandt’s Artists Against Apartheid, and participated in Van Zandt’s anti-apartheid single Sun City.

Bono and The Edge attended the Festival Against Racism in Hamburg, Germany, in 1993. The event consisted of a concert, a press conference, a theatrical event, and a debate on the subject of anti-racism.

Bono has been a leader in the fight against poverty, and has helped to create the ONE Campaign, DATA, (RED) and EDUN, a clothing company which is striving to stimulate trade with poverty stricken countries.

He was on Forbes’ Generous Celebrity List for his work with Debt AIDS Trade Africa (DATA) against the spread of AIDS and for debt relief in Africa, participation in fundraising concerts like Live 8, and his donation of $50,000 to One in Four Ireland, a charity that helps survivors of sexual abuse.

Bono has received 3 nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize, and was knighted in 2007.

Today I am a HERO.

Well I am not Superman, Spiderman or well like I inspire to be Batman. I am HU-MAN.

I Donated blood today by sacrificing my lunch time to add my blood in the National Blood Bank. Let’s put it in simple terms, donating blood is simple and there is a high demand by vampires.

I am still dizzy while writing about this. I mean high demand during festive season due the high rate of accidents. Not to jinx stuff but please drive safe and if the worse happens, there is blood ready.

So the best super power figure is HU-MAN.I guess we have completely forgot this fact.

9 Reasons for donating blood

1. Someone needs blood every 3 seconds. An average of 40,000 units are needed every day.There is no substitute for human blood.

2. 60% of the population will need blood at some time in their lives, yet less than 5% of the population donates.

3. Disasters like car accidents, fires, and other trauma cases happen every day and these patients need blood, and rarely do they need only one pint. A bleeding trauma victim can run through 100 units of blood in no time.

4. For an aging population, as well as the huge expansion of health care facilities, our blood usage is growing at three times the national rate. Blood usage outpaces donor collections.

5. If all eligible donors would donate on a regular basis, four to six times a year, blood needs would be met and shortages could be a thing of the past.

6. For decades this nation relied on a large pool of blood donors from “The Greatest Generation,” the heroic World War II veterans who considered blood donation to be an on-going patriotic duty. Sadly, that generation is fast disappearing and other new donors are not stepping forward to replace them.

7. Donating blood is safe and a healthy thing to do. Not only do you get a free mini physical, including blood pressure check, heart rate, temperature and iron levels, but it’s the fastest way to lose a pound!

8. For men, there is a life-saving benefit to donating blood. Men are at higher risk for “hemochromatosis or iron overload” a potentially deadly problem where too much iron builds up in the blood. It can lead to heart disease and other major health problems. Research shows if men give blood 3 times a year, they can reduce their iron overload and therefore their risk of a heart attack by as much as 50%!

People seek for acceptance all the time with their family, friends, acquaintance, employer, society, religious groups and etc. Sometimes no matter how hard we try acceptance is something we may not achieve.

Acceptance to be a part of your partner’s family sometimes may feel impossible. People today are focusing on the points that are general and influenced by their society or culture when it comes to acceptance.Being not accepted for not being the “same kind” is RUBBISH.

I am writing this to send a message to those who seek acceptance from their partner’s family. You can only try and then let time to decide. Trying to force or pushing people to accept you will never work as people don’t change.

So, how do we gain acceptance from the partner’s family?

When a person is not accepted in a family, this creates a rift with all the members in the family. Slowly the relationship among family members drop like dominos and it will take time to recover and most of the cases it will never recover.Lets say, it will never be the same cause ego and arrogance kicks in.

Why can’t people realise that nobody is perfect and there is no such thing as the right person for you.

The meaning of a right partner in the context of general people: same race, same religion, same cast (especially for Indians), same or higher pay, color tone, how much is the dowry, tall/short, family back ground, type or wedding ceremony, and etc.

Only you can determine the best person for yourself and not something your society or your family can decide for you. Why? At the end of the day, you will be responsible for your decisions and no one else.When there is trouble in paradise, you will hear cricket sounds.

Many will disagree with my statement but when you read the stats, many people who get married today have no idea what they are doing which later add on the high divorce rate which emotionally effects the children.

So it all starts from acceptance.Listen.See both sides of the coins.Learn to see people for whom they are and bury that perfect person talk.

I was having a discussion @ Deutcheus Gauthaus with a buddy and we started to reflect back on “life”.I was sharing a way of thinking which I feel will help people live a much more meaning full life.

Understanding the ROLE of yourself and the people around you in life will be fun. For example a father and mother have a very straight forward ROLE. What will the ROLE of a child towards his/her parents be?

People that you spend time together or build a business network together all have a ROLE in our life. So how do you know what is their ROLE and what is your ROLE towards their life? It’s not all about MONEY.

Understanding a person’s role does not mean you are taking advantage of someone or giving a reason to be with a person. The ROLE can be the smallest advise or cheapest drink at the mamak shop.

Anybody in your life can play a ROLE. You will not figure out the ROLE of anyone towards you , but you can determine your ROLE towards the people around you.

People who hurt you also play a ROLE in your life to test yourself. Your ROLE is to manage it and how you will be a better person or hurt the next person you see. It’s YIN & YANG.

So the biggest question you should ask yourself it,

What is my ROLE to this world?

What am I doing to make this a better place?

What am I doing to help those who are in need?

What am I doing to appreciate my family?

What am I doing to be a part of my countries development?

What am I doing to encourage my family and friends?

What am I doing for the animal?

What is the world doing for me?

Knowing the ROLE does not mean we practice it, but trying to take up the ROLE is the main point.Inch by Inch.

Daughters of the brothel

This is a real story of Nassema and how she changes the lives of woman. This are the real un heard heroes.

The magazine had been set up by a group of sex workers led by one girl - Naseema. Born into Chaturbhuj-sthan, Naseema was abandoned by her mother and raised by a woman she calls her 'grandmother'. Although not actually related to her, this woman used the money she earned as a prostitute to raise Naseema and send her to school. Naseema became the first girl in the brothel's 300-or-so-year history to receive an education.

When she returned to Chaturbhuj-sthan it was not to sell her body. With the help of local banks, Naseema established small industries inside the brothel - making candles, matchsticks, bindis and incense - offering many prostitutes an alternative form of employment. And she set about persuading the sex workers to send their children to school. Now almost every child in Chaturbhuj-sthan is in full-time education.

More than 50 former prostitutes now work with Naseema, who taught them how to read and write. As well as running the magazine - which is sold across India and also sent to subscribers elsewhere - Naseema and the other women work to prevent others being trafficked, mainly from neighbouring Nepal and Bangladesh, into prostitution. In the last year alone, they have been able to send at least 20 new girls safely back home.

But their work has brought them many enemies; the most feared being Rani Begum. As chief of the brothel,

Begum's finances have suffered a blow as a result of Naseema's activities. Her thugs have publicly harassed and beaten Naseema and the other women who work with her. Naseema has also had to fight pimps, as well as some police officers and clerics who were unhappy about her work.

The Spastic Children’s Association @ Selangor

The Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor & Federal territoryhas come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1960. It has now become a vital link to bring hope to spastic children so that parents with children suffering from cerebral palsy could seek help and assistance from trained personnel.

The Association manages a Spastic Centre that provides numerous services, facilities and activities that are used to care and treat these special children. Among them are free transportation, education and various therapies such as physiotherapy and hydrotherapy.

Even till today, the Association is a proud reminder of the kind volunteers and staffs that offer their help and time to care for the children. It continues to give awareness programs to the public in hopes that this disorder is misunderstood and hence break down the barrier of doubts and suspicion that often linger around people with cerebral palsy.

The Centre has been blessed to have had the support of the government and many well-wishers. However thanks to the foreward planning of it Board, it is 50% self-sufficient, in spite of giving all its services absolutely free.

The Centre is now embarking on an even more ambitious programme to expand its facilities as well as increase its self-reliance. This will guarantee our continued survival.

What is SPASTIC ?

I was waiting for my ride @ Bangsar LRT and was approach by two volunteers asking me this question. Honestly, I did not know the meaning and they explained and share information about Spastic Children´s Association of Selangor & Federal Territory.

So I decided to share this information as many people.

A “spastic” is a person with Cerebral Palsy. This is a disorder of movement appearing in the early years of life. It is due to damage or failure to develop normally in a small part of the brain controlling these activities.

Cerebral palsy takes many forms- in fact no two spastic people are exactly the same. Some are less affected that they have no obvious disability. Others may be clumsy in their walk or they may have difficulties with their limbs or with muscles that help with speech. Some are even unable to stand or sit and thus, are unable to do even simple things for themselves.

Sometimes the damage involves some part of the brain as well. This leads to deafness and other disabilities involving perception. Many spastic children also have learning difficulties, which makes them slow to mature intellectually.

However, spastic people sometimes have higher than average intelligence though many are slow in catching up due to their handicaps. They often find it hard to control their facial expressions and may seem to be feeble-minded or even to be mentally retarded but some of those who seem to be severely disturbed are on the contrary very active intellectually and not least affected by the disorder.

After engaging in all sort of ways to create awareness and create constant sustainability, I encountered an another way where social can work.

I got an email from a buddy attached to Impiana KLCC as one of their guests who will be staying in the hotel is interested to donate some football stuff for homes in Malaysia. Thanks to the awareness created, we manage to share with him details of Stepping Stones and ready to share other homes as well.

31 July the tourist will be taking a visit to the home to present the gift for the kids.Really though full for the tourist to do this and I think it would be good that hotels share information on homes for guest who request for the information.

It will look like a readymade CSR and creates value for the hotel as the guest will clearly know the Hotel makes an effort to promote homes that need financial aid.

I am hoping for more requests so I am able to spread information of other homes that need help.
